Sylvester Tripp
Sylvester L. Tripp was a Lumber executive who served as the first Mayor of Mundelein (then called Rockefeller and Area) from 1909 to 19111. He was born in 1865 in Half Day, Illinois, and died from a "heart ailment" 1933 in San Diego, California4. He was married to his wife Harriet2. He was born in Half Day, Illinois, and was buried in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Find a Grave claims his middle name was "Louis", but so far I have not found any corroborating evidence. According to a Libertyville ballot, Tripp was a Republican.3 He opeated the defunct S. L. Tripp Lumber Company. Initially a farmer, Tripp got into the lumber business by purchasing the J. H. Cronkheit Lumber company in Mundelein in 1900.4
Tripp Court is named after him.
